Bower Facilities Launches New Data Centre Focused Maintenance Portfolio to Address Rising Infrastructure Risk

Helping data centre operators move beyond reactive maintenance to reduce risk and protect performance.

This new services portfolio has been specifically designed to support more proactive maintenance across critical environments.

Operators are under increasing pressure to maintain uptime while managing ageing infrastructure and rising demand. Industry studies indicate outages can cost thousands of pounds per minute, with infrastructure failure and environmental factors among the leading causes. External assets such as roofs, drainage systems and building envelopes are often maintained reactively, allowing issues to develop gradually over time.

The new portfolio brings together preventative maintenance, specialist cleaning, inspection and infrastructure support into a single coordinated service model. Services include drone-based roof inspections, external infrastructure cleaning, drainage surveys, high-temperature pressure washing, pest management, and civil works such as ducting and targeted external infrastructure works.

“Critical environments cannot afford reactive maintenance,” said John Noctor, CEO of Bower Facilities. “Most operators have strong controls inside the data hall, but far less visibility across external infrastructure. This creates gaps in coverage where issues can develop unnoticed over time. Our focus is to act as a trusted partner, combining structured maintenance with clear reporting and forward planning to reduce risk and protect performance.”

Bower Facilities maintains structured records of site condition and completed works, enabling maintenance to be planned rather than triggered by failure. This provides operators with clear visibility and a more controlled approach to managing external infrastructure.

Services can be delivered as standalone projects or integrated into ongoing site support programmes, depending on site requirements and operational priorities.

Work is carried out using specialist equipment and trained personnel experienced in live critical environments, ensuring delivery is safe, consistent and minimally disruptive. This is supported by a commitment to fair pay, ongoing training and responsible environmental practices.

Bower’s services portfolio gives clients a single, trusted partner for specialist maintenance, cleaning and infrastructure support, helping them reduce risk, prevent issues before they escalate and keep critical sites operating safely and efficiently. By combining preventative maintenance, rapid response capability, specialist equipment and highly trained teams, Bower helps organisations minimise disruption, protect uptime, improve safety and compliance, and achieve better long-term value from their assets.

The portfolio is available immediately across the UK.

Confined Spaces - CP1
CP1 confined spaces training certifies operatives to safely enter, work within and respond to hazards in enclosed and restricted environments. This addresses risks around access, air quality and emergency response, allowing sensitive work to proceed safely and predictably.
Operational Tablet – Job Management Platform
Teams are trained to operate within live job management systems covering planning, reporting and workflow. This ensures work is tracked, evidenced and auditable, creating a direct and transparent link between delivery and reporting.
Constant Contact Helmets – Team Communications
Integrated communication systems allow continuous contact across the team. This improves coordination in complex environments and helps maintain control throughout delivery.
Atmospheric Monitors – Multi Gas Detection (O₂ CO H₂S LELs)
Multi gas monitoring enables continuous detection of hazardous atmospheric conditions. This ensures work proceeds safely in sensitive areas without reliance on assumptions.
Drone Pilot – A2 CofC
A2 Certificate of Competency permits drone operations in built up and controlled environments. This enables detailed inspections of hard to reach areas without physical access, reducing disruption and risk.
Mobile Access Towers – PASMA (STA TI SU LSR)
PASMA certification ensures mobile access towers are assembled, used and dismantled correctly. This reduces fall risk while maintaining safe and efficient access on live sites.
Powered Access – IPAF (1A 1B 3A 3B)
IPAF certification across multiple categories enables safe operation of powered access equipment in varied environments. This supports consistent access at height across sites, without reliance on specific operators.
Water Jetting – WJA (SA HPWJ DS SP)
WJA accreditation confirms training in the safe and controlled use of high pressure water jetting equipment. This ensures cleaning is thorough and compliant, reducing risk while allowing issues to be properly identified.
First Aid – EFAW
Emergency First Aid at Work certification provides immediate response capability on site. This reduces incident severity and supports safe working environments.
Asbestos Awareness – Category A (CPD ROSPA)
Category A asbestos awareness training ensures asbestos containing materials can be recognised and managed correctly. This reduces exposure risk and supports compliant working practices.
CSCS – CITB, NOCN Level 1
CSCS certification confirms competence to work safely on controlled UK sites. This supports smooth access and integration into live environments.
COSHH – PA1, PA6
COSHH certification covering PA1 and PA6 ensures hazardous substances are handled and applied correctly. This protects people, assets and the wider environment.
5 Point PPE – CPD ROSPA
5 point PPE training ensures the correct selection, use and maintenance of protective equipment. More importantly, it embeds PPE as a non negotiable part of how work is carried out, creating a consistent baseline of protection across every task, every site and every team.
