OPERATIONAL RESILIENCE
Critical Cooling Plant Cleaning
Identify
During routine site activity, Bower identified contamination building up across the coil and fin surfaces of rooftop adiabatic condensers (ADCs), restricting airflow and reducing heat-transfer efficiency.
Capture
The condition was documented through site reporting and photographic evidence, providing a clear record of contamination levels and affected equipment.
Inform
The issue was raised with the client alongside a specialist cleaning approach designed for critical adiabatic cooling equipment within a live data-centre environment.
Control
Bower carried out specialist low-pressure, high-temperature cleaning of the affected ADC coil and fin surfaces, removing built-up contamination while protecting the delicate fins and surrounding equipment. Works were carefully controlled to minimise disruption to live operations.
Primary Benefit
Operational Resilience. Removing contamination from adiabatic condenser coil and fin surfaces to support effective airflow, heat transfer and cooling performance, while minimising disruption to live data-centre operations.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Pathway Extension
Identify
During routine grounds maintenance, Bower identified that pedestrian traffic was being forced onto a saturated grass verge because the existing pathway was too narrow, creating a developing slip hazard.
Capture
Photographs and a site assessment documented the condition, pedestrian behaviour and continued deterioration of the surrounding area.
Inform
Bower presented the evidence and recommended extending the existing pathway to accommodate actual pedestrian demand and remove the unsafe route.
Control
The pathway was extended using matching block paving, creating a permanent, safe and accessible route while eliminating the recurring slip risk.
Primary Benefit
Removing a developing hazard before it becomes an incident.
COST CONTROL
Living Wall Transformation
Identify
Bower assessed a failing living wall that had already been replaced twice under previous contractors, with both installations subsequently dying.
Capture
Rather than treating the visible failure as the problem, the condition and factors affecting the wall were assessed to understand why previous investment had repeatedly failed.
Inform
Bower gave the client visibility of the underlying causes and what needed to change for any future investment to be sustainable.
Control
The solution addressed the conditions required for the wall to survive rather than simply funding another replacement, breaking the cycle of repeated expenditure.
Primary Benefit
Protecting investment by solving the cause of failure, not repeatedly paying for the symptom.
COMPLIANCE & ASSURANCE
Rooftop Access Bridges
Identify
During a contractual drone roof survey, Bower identified rooftop access bridges with inadequate edge protection, missing toe boards and incomplete handrails.
Capture
Drone imagery and detailed photographic evidence documented every affected location and created a condition record that showed the extent and level of risk.
Inform
The findings were converted into a clear report identifying the deficiencies and recommended corrective actions, allowing remedial works to be prioritised.
Control
Compliant handrails, toe boards and improved edge protection were installed, providing safe access and bringing the structures in line with required safety standards.
Primary Benefit
Turning site condition into documented evidence, prioritised action and demonstrable compliance.
MANAGEMENT EFFICIENCY
Seized Manhole Covers
Identify
During planned drainage maintenance, Bower identified several manhole covers that had seized through corrosion and could no longer be safely accessed.
Capture
The condition and restricted access were photographed and recorded, creating evidence of the developing maintenance constraint.
Inform
Bower highlighted that inaccessible chambers could delay routine inspections, fault finding and emergency drainage works.
Control
The defective covers were replaced, restoring full access and allowing future planned and emergency maintenance to take place without additional access planning or unnecessary delays.
Primary Benefit
Removing recurring friction so future maintenance becomes simpler, faster and easier to manage.

Confined Spaces - CP1
CP1 confined spaces training certifies operatives to safely enter, work within and respond to hazards in enclosed and restricted environments. This addresses risks around access, air quality and emergency response, allowing sensitive work to proceed safely and predictably.
Operational Tablet – Job Management Platform
Teams are trained to operate within live job management systems covering planning, reporting and workflow. This ensures work is tracked, evidenced and auditable, creating a direct and transparent link between delivery and reporting.
Constant Contact Helmets – Team Communications
Integrated communication systems allow continuous contact across the team. This improves coordination in complex environments and helps maintain control throughout delivery.
Atmospheric Monitors – Multi Gas Detection (O₂ CO H₂S LELs)
Multi gas monitoring enables continuous detection of hazardous atmospheric conditions. This ensures work proceeds safely in sensitive areas without reliance on assumptions.
Drone Pilot – A2 CofC
A2 Certificate of Competency permits drone operations in built up and controlled environments. This enables detailed inspections of hard to reach areas without physical access, reducing disruption and risk.
Mobile Access Towers – PASMA (STA TI SU LSR)
PASMA certification ensures mobile access towers are assembled, used and dismantled correctly. This reduces fall risk while maintaining safe and efficient access on live sites.
Powered Access – IPAF (1A 1B 3A 3B)
IPAF certification across multiple categories enables safe operation of powered access equipment in varied environments. This supports consistent access at height across sites, without reliance on specific operators.
Water Jetting – WJA (SA HPWJ DS SP)
WJA accreditation confirms training in the safe and controlled use of high pressure water jetting equipment. This ensures cleaning is thorough and compliant, reducing risk while allowing issues to be properly identified.
First Aid – EFAW
Emergency First Aid at Work certification provides immediate response capability on site. This reduces incident severity and supports safe working environments.
Asbestos Awareness – Category A (CPD ROSPA)
Category A asbestos awareness training ensures asbestos containing materials can be recognised and managed correctly. This reduces exposure risk and supports compliant working practices.
CSCS – CITB, NOCN Level 1
CSCS certification confirms competence to work safely on controlled UK sites. This supports smooth access and integration into live environments.
COSHH – PA1, PA6
COSHH certification covering PA1 and PA6 ensures hazardous substances are handled and applied correctly. This protects people, assets and the wider environment.
5 Point PPE – CPD ROSPA
5 point PPE training ensures the correct selection, use and maintenance of protective equipment. More importantly, it embeds PPE as a non negotiable part of how work is carried out, creating a consistent baseline of protection across every task, every site and every team.
